(The deposit amount depends on the size of the rented boat: Quattro: 1500 EUR, Sixto and Octo: 2000 EUR.) A deposit is required prior to departure and boarding and can be paid by credit card or in cash, in both HUF and EUR. Is there really no need for a boating license to drive a holiday boat?
It is possible to rent a holiday boat without a boating license. Captains are taught to safely steer the boats in a single-session training. There are navigation tools on board, you can ask for assistance at the ports to safely stop, and there is a non-stop support line that you can call with any issues. The boat may only be driven by persons who have completed the training.
How does the training work?
The training takes about 1–1.5 hours on the day before departure. The training includes an educational video and we also show you how to use the boat in practice. You do not have to take an exam, but the training is compulsory for those who will be driving the boat – and of course, all the passengers are welcome to join it too. The training is compulsory even if the driver holds a boating license.
Do I have to attend education even if I have been before?
Due to changes in shipping regulations, all holiday boat rentals require re-training.
Where can we make port with holiday boats? Is it possible to stop anywhere on the Tisza?
You can make port in any port that accepts small motor boats. A guide containing recommended ports is being prepared for the guests. Mooring in Mahart's own ports is free of charge, while in other ports the port operator may charge a mooring fee.
Where can we fill the fuel tank of the boat?
The boats will be refuelled by Mahart Zrt staff. Every boat is provided with a full fuel tank, which is more than enough for a week, so captains will not have to worry about this. The technical parameters of the boat – including the status of the tank – will be monitored remotely from the support centre by Mahart staff. In case you still need to refuel, a mobile fuelling station will be used to do so at the closest port.
What happens if the boat breaks down or there is an emergency?
Non-stop assistance is included in our services. So you can call us for support anytime in case of an emergency. If there is an issue, we will reach the boat from one of the home ports – Tokaj or Kisköre – on land or on the water. The service will closely cooperate with the waterway police, so we can use their emergency services as well if necessary.
Is it allowed to consume alcohol on board?
It is allowed to consume alcohol on board, but only for those who are not going to drive the boat on the given day. If the captain drinks alcohol, he may not drive the boat that day. The same rules apply for boating as for driving a car – zero tolerance. The police may check this on the boat anytime.
Is their air-conditioning on the boat?
The boats have heating, but they do not have air-conditioning. Thanks to the solar curtains found on the windows, you can ensure pleasant temperatures even during summer heat waves.
Can I bring my pet on board with me?
Yes, of course, your pet can accompany you on your holiday boating trip, but in that case an extra 40 EUR has to be paid.
